Keep your Babies Inside... Part 2

Last week I wrote about the little eight year old girl named Sandra Cantu who was found deceased in a suitcase that was submerged into the river at a nearby dairy farm. This week a big breakthrough has been made and the outcome of it all is shocking.

The number one suspect at this time was a Sunday school teacher at a nearby church and her father was the Pastor. Cantu lived in the same neighborhood as the women and even played with her five year old child frequently.

Evidence has shown that Mellisa Huckby,28, performed some sexual activities on Cantu with toys and evidence will soon reveal more.

"If convicted as charged, Huckaby faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole," said San Joaquin District Attorney James Willet.

Huckby is undergoing medical treatment to see if she could possibly be suffereing from mental issues and if it is found that she is, that could really help her in this case.

The media has been all over this story and minute to minute updates on the situation is being done. It is already hard to trust anyone in this world and now the people within the church, the ones who kids trust the most, are no better than the rest.

  1. This story is just so hard for me to digest. Given the recent revelations, I'm sure this woman will be found to be mentally incompetent--otherwise, how else could she do such a thing? The lesson here for everyone is to not trust labels--Sunday school teacher, pastor, teacher--it's easy to say that someone must be alright if they are in these professions. The first story on the news last night was about the local teacher who had sex with one of her students, so there is another example in our own community. Parents need to look beyond labels and check out the people who are interacting with their children.

  2. It doesnt matter if she was suffering from any mental illnesses. Thats still the most disturbing thing I have heard in a really long time. This lady should be locked up and sentenced to something morbid herself as soon as possible. I am so sick and tired of hearing about the sickos of the world trying to use mental illness as an excuse to receive their get out of jail free card. I mean duhh your mentally ill you just sexual abused and murdered a child.

  3. This is the reason why I don't keep a lot of company with me like some of my peers do. I'm part of a big family where everybody is real close and are like best friends toward each other. It's not too many people you can trust in this world. It's a shame that we have a world like this where people would actually do this to other people. Good post

  4. Wow. It's hard to imagine that any sane human being could do that to a child, unless you claim that only social boundaries keep us from indulging in our innate human nature.

I still don't believe in the death penalty though. I feel that taking someone's life, other than your own, makes you just as bad as the murderer, if not worse.

  5. **P.S.**

It would be worse to spend the rest of your life in a jail cell then to be killed.
